Propaganda
So Korea was cool but without a doubt
The DMZ tour was ... well ...
The DMZ tour is a US military led trip to the border between south and north
To say this was insane and bizzare and unnerving and insane
Is to completely underestimate the bizzareness of the situation
We went into a meeting room where there's a table
With a line down the middle
Half of it is in regular old democratic normal South Korea
The other half is in ... well ... North Korea
So we wander around this room
This guy is standing in front of the door into North Korea

He's there to stop people defecting
And also to stop the North Korean guards pulling you out and ... doing unpleasant communist things to you
It happened!

This big grey concrete building is in North Korea and you can see the North Korean guy with his binoculours trying to freak us out.
It kinda worked

And this guy is one of the goodies
And while it might looks like he's looking at the wall
He's watching North Korea and minimizing the amount of his body they might be able to shoot
While we were there we were told again and again and again and again
Not to smile or point or try to communicate in anyway with the North Koreans
Or we could end up on a 'Look North Korea's so cool, this Irish girl wants to come join us' advertisement.
We also went to the 3rd tunnel
At one point, and maybe even now
North Korea decided to dig some tunnels into South Korea
Now beside the fact that it took the US and South Korea disturbingly long to find them
They're insane
Some of them are wide enough to drive vehicles through
And they painted the walls black so that if they were found
They could tell everyone that they were old coal mines
And presumed that no one would check beneath the paint
And when that didn't work
They just said South Korea dug it not them
So yeah
It was crazy
