We're going to Korea!

Just in case anyone heard about the earthquake ...
It was miles away but both Dave and I did feel it...
It was longer than the other rumbles we've felt ...
But didn't stop us both going back to sleep...

Double

So last weekend we headed back to Kyoto.
I'd been wanting to go back to see some more temples
And do shopping
And I finally managed to get outta bed early enough on a Sunday morning.

So we shinkansen'd out
Tourist Officed it for a really nice hotel

And then headed straight to Nijo-jo ... A pretty palace with pretty gardens ...

After an AMAZING dinner of, believe it or not, deep fried stuff. Pork, creamy beans ... it was so delicious. Mmmmm....

Anyway ... oh yeah ... after that ...

A few times a year, they illuminate some of the temples at night, and so we braved the cold and the crowds and saw the temples in a whole new light. The photos don't do them justice.




Next day we headed out to Inari Fushimi Temple, a temple with 4km of red tori gates which if you look through my photos you'll think I'd taken photo of all 8000! But they really were pretty amazing.




The shrine is populated by tons of stone foxes, and you can buy a fox blessing card to write and offer ... and heres mine!!!





So that was our weekend ... Oh and I left out the shopping part ... thank you's on a postcard.

Wrinkle

So it was my birthday
And my boyfriend is a real sweetie

And so we had one amazing night (day really)
In one amazing hotel!

He got me a night in a giganormous hotel room
On an all-inclusive package
So we had access to 'The Concierge Lobby'
Free food, free drink, free drink, free drink



So we sat by the window on the 36th floor
Watched the lights of Nagoya
And got slowly and happily drunk!

So its Sunday ...
I had plans to get out of town for my birthday
Head to Kyoto to shop, to sightsee, to not be at home
Dave had plans for tonight so was going to join me tomorrow

But bed was too comfy so I stayed
And now it's 2
The sun is streaming in
It's warm, sunny, not humid

We're drinking the ultimate summer drink ...
Tequila and lemonade (grapefruit juice actually, well we are actually in Japan!)
Daves cooking me up some great smelling surprise lunch

And well right now
I could stay here forever ...

(with the tequila of course)
(and only in the summer)
(before it got humid)
(and I guess Dave should be here too)
